Seven businesses registered in cities in Jackson County in week ending Nov. 19, 2022

There were seven businesses that registered in cities within Jackson County in the week ending Nov. 19, 2022, according to the Alabama Secretary of State.

This is 40 percent more than the week before, when five businesses were registered.

Scottsboro registered the most businesses in Jackson County.

More than 99 percent of Alabama's businesses are considered small, with more than 47 percent of Alabama's employees working for a small business, according to the U.S. Small Business Administration.

A Civic Economics study found $100 spent at a locally-owned business puts $47 back into the local economy while the total is just $13 for non-local businesses.
