“Contra Dancing” for Seniors on July 20

“Contra Dancing” for Seniors

July 20 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

“Contra Dancing” for Seniors, Starting at the Senior Center in Guntersville on Wednesday, July 20.

Introductory CONTRA DANCE lessons will start on Wed., July 20 at the GSV Senior Center from 6-7.

Anyone interested should phone Reita Graham at the center 256-505-3000 to put your name on the list.

Want to start moving again? How about a style of dance that takes no fancy footwork – you just walk ! The dance has a caller (sort of like square dancing does). This style exercises your brain and your muscles both.

It is a dance done with a partner but you do not have to have one to attend.

These dances will be done gender free therefor your partner will not necessarily be of the opposite gender.

Helpful skills:

Do you count to 8 ?                                                      Can you tell right from left ?

Can you walk a steady pace ?                                                        Can you remember who your partner is ?

If you can do any 2 of the above we think we can get you dancing!

The instructor is Jane Ewing of Grant. Jane is an active member of the North Alabama Country Dance Society (NACDS) in Huntsville and has been for 30 years. She has been teaching/calling contra dances for over 20 years all across the USA.

The dance will be on Wednesday evenings 6-7 at Guntersville Senior Center.

The first Wednesday will be July 20th and weekly dances will occur if there is community interest.

Anyone interested should call Reita Graham, Director of the Senior Center and register for the class @ 256-505-3000

No special clothing is needed.
