The Marshall County Sheriff's Office now offers a Citizen's Firearms Safety Course (CFSC) for all Marshall County residents who are at least 18 years of age. This one day course will be held each month on Saturday's beginning at 9am and will consist of both a classroom portion and a range time. Attendees must bring their own firearm and at least one box of ammunition.

During the classroom portion, our instructors will help you become familiar with your firearms, its safety features along with current state laws. The classroom portion is approximately one hour long and will be held at 2201 Browns Valley Rd. the Marshall County FOP Headquarters in Guntersville, AL. (NO FIREARMS ARE ALLOWED DURING THIS PART OF THE COURSE) The next phase of training will be hands on and take place just a few miles away at the Sheriff's Office gun range. Here students will familiarize themselves with the correct techniques to safely fire each weapon in the presence of a certified firearms instructor. A sack lunch and water will be provided the day of the training. You must bring proper eye and ear protection and we also encourage you to bring sunscreen.

The dates of each course are based on range and instructor availability and subject to change due to weather. If you are interested in attending our Firearms Safety Course, please complete the registration and we will contact you about your selected course.

Please contact Chief Deputy Steve Guthrie at 256-582-2034 with any questions.

Note: Seating is limited but additional trainings will continue to be scheduled.
